Al-Jimzeera Talking Points
* This photo was taken a few hours before I left my fake glasses in the bathroom at the movie theater we saw "Jesus is Magic" in. And thanks to Meng I got another vote for the hotness of the glasses. I'll track them down tomorrow or throw down another $8.
* "Jesus is Magic" had less Jesus in it than I thought. Sarah Silverman is adorable and she knows it. But who cares, she's a hottie. And it's very funny in parts.
* "Alone" by James Davis and Jim Behrle 11/12/05 at the Ear Inn.
* That wonderful moment when you change your friendster profile to "Single." Some recommended other designations they might consider. "This Sucks." "Who, Me?" "Spanking the Monkey [see live webcam]."
* Al-Jimzeera Radio may debut at some point tomorrow. Do stay tuned.
* Listened to Mobylives Radio's Alan Cordle interview. The host peaked early with his first lines: "Tired of blogs? [Chekovian Pause.] [Wearily] Me too." He then reads something or other about stuff you can't help but notice he's reading which is about as interesting as the wooshing of planes taking off and landing. His voice is somewhat Dr. Fever. Great interviewers are born--you don't get better at it. Although I thought Alan did very well. Only 300 visitors a day? Where did everybody go?
* I caught two roaches tonight after midnight. My roommate sent out the alert. My latest technique: use an empty ice cream pint to capture and then a postcard or magazine to trap. Then leave it in the trash can across the street. I think killing roaches is conterproductive and gooey. I try not to kill anything anymore. I still have Stefan Pepper the fighting fish's bowl in my room, it's blue sand crystals spilled and dried up from when he died. Someone loves us all. Who am I to take that away? Roommate says maybe the roaches were on a date. They are making out now inside a green tea pint across [Brooklyn reference deleted].
* What does a ninja/repairman sound like? Why do I think Southern accent? Gober?
* Watched the bootleg of "Serenity" I had bought when it first came out. The camera is way left in a large cinema. Some fat chick sits right in front of the camera about 5 minutes in and fidgets the entire time, screwing up the autofocus (The Bootleg of Serenity That's Going Around is No Good. Do Not Eat The Brown Acid.). I don't like the movie but recommend the shortlived show now available on dvd. But wittiest lines were garbled and very fishbowly. So maybe I missed something. Like Lindsey Lohan, I liked Kaylee a little heavier.
* Sold books about pornography and its cultural significance tonight at New School. Was too busy cartooning to flip through, but does anybody really want to read about the politics of pornography? Just cue moneyshots.
* I said no to being a reader but you could still go: Sean Cole has a Boog Book release at ACA Gallery 12/12. Sean's for real: check him out. Have also said no to readings in St. Louis, Chicago, Cambridge. Please don't ask me to submit poems or to read in your series. Thanks.
